THE BARGAIN BOX is up and running on the Parish of Annapolis website. Check under the ‘MORE’ tab and then the Bargain Box. At present we are only accepting donations of 2 items per household. If you could email a picture of the item to the parish office we will put it on the website. If you don’t have the capability of emailing a picture, and the item is small, you can bring it into the office and Rev. Nita will take the picture.
Who says church can’t be fun? Does winter seem a bit too long this year? Are you tired of the same old routine with not much new to do? Would you like to gather with your friends for a good laugh and have some fun? Join Rev. Nita by Zoom on March 16 at 7:30 p.m. for Bingo! This is not a fund-raiser, it’s community time! A time to laugh, time to have a good giggle to help beat away at the winter blues. Three things to remember 1.) There is no charge, but there is one grand prize 2.) Pick up your bingo cards from Rev. Nita, or we can mail them to you. There will be only three games. 3.) It’s theme night, and the theme is summer.
Easy Instructions for Connecting with Zoom All you need is a computer that is equipped with a camera and speakers. (Most current models have these) 1.) Go to your site where you search for topics and type in the word ZOOM. 2.) You should be directed toward the Zoom site. You will see several options. Click on the tab that says SIGN IN. 3.) You will be directed to another window. Do not enter your e-mail address, first go to the top right corner, and click on the orange tab that says SIGN UP IT’S FREE. 4.) Next you will be asked to confirm your date of birth. This information is not stored. Enter the info requested and hit Continue. 5.) On this page enter your e-mail address and click on the button that says Sign Up. 6.) You will be asked to identify certain images. This is likely the hardest part of setting up for Zoom, I find that the pictures are small and hard to see clearly, so you may need to do it a few times before you can go further in the process. Sometimes you are asked to repeat this same process once again in the next step. After you have selected the object, (this usually means that you are identifying three or four images out of a selection of 9 or 12), click on the button that says verify. 7.) Next you will see a notice that says a confirmation link has been sent to your personal e-mail. Go to your e-mail site, open the e-mail from Zoom and click on the orange button that says Activate Account. 8.) Now you will need to give yourself an account name and a password. Once this is done you can skip the part to invite others to create an account and you should now be good to accept Zoom invitations that come to you through your e-mail. It’s a bit of a long process, but an easy 8 steps gets you the ability to Zoom.

Almsgiving for Lent - Two of the central lessons of the cross are compassion and selflessness. By giving alms, we are sacrificing our comfort for the good of another person and it is a tradition during lent that we engage in almsgiving’s during the forty days of Lent. This year the Annapolis and Area Ecumenical Council will be asking each of their congregations to consider a gift of almsgiving to support our local front line medical workers, service agencies, and businesses for their dedication to duty and the extra burdens they have assumed on our behalf during the Covid pandemic. A small token of a Robbins gift card to cover a cup of coffee and a doughnut is the gift of almsgiving we have chosen. Our parish will be sponsoring the Annapolis Nursing Home who has a staff of 85 persons. Please place all donations in an envelope marked 2021 Almsgiving Gift and place it on the collection plate and submit before March 15. Thank you for your almsgiving gift of support and appreciation.

A Prayer For Putting On A Face Mask Creator God, as I prepare to go into the world, help me to see the sacramental nature of wearing this cloth. Let it be a tangible and visible way of living love for my neighbours, as I love myself. Christ Jesus, since my lips will be covered, uncover my heart, that people would see my smile in the crinkles around my eyes. Since my voice may be muffled, help me to speak clearly, not only with my words, but with my action. Holy Spirit, as the elastic touches my ears, remind me to listen carefully and caringly to all those I meet. May this simple piece of cloth be shield and banner, and may each breath that it holds, be filled with Your love. In Your name and in that love, I pray. AMEN Rev. Richard Bott, Moderator

RESEARCH REPORT: QUESTION FOUR Question 4: Name one aspect of St. Luke’s that must change? Summary-The current financial situation of the parish played heavily in the responses provided. Money is seen as a source of difficulty. Obtaining money, budgeting, how to spend it, how to make money, how to increase our revenue, where all questions which they touched upon. There is a sense of immediacy, not urgency, but immediacy that our financial situations needs serious attention. Stronger involvement with others in the congregation and a needed shift in how we approach scripture in relation to scholarship were other topics of deep conviction. Wholeness - Continue to be a place of comfort and refuge. The original intentions of the early church should be explored. Holy - No response Worship -No response Fellowship -To develop a sense of team, become part of team, and become good at what the team does Purpose - Strengthen the community and the church by re-evaluating the practices of worship. Secular - Find ways to get people to support and believe in us. To find ways to build credibility and to reduce the amount of nonsense that we appear to support. Steadfast - No response Change - We have to do something now to become relevant. There needs to be an increase in money, in attendance, in involvement, change what we talk about at parish council, broaden our interpretations, and show our inclusiveness are naming the major concerns. Experience -Money is a source of difficulty, it can be a source of blessing when it is given away. We do not want to lose the experience the music provides and being in touch with clergy.
